What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Information We Collect

Providers may request or collect personal information from online users in a variety of ways, including through online forms for requesting information or ordering products and services, and other instances where users are invited to volunteer such information. Some of the data we collect is information that identifies you personally, and may include your name, e-mail address, postal address, telephone and telefax numbers, payment account information, and other information necessary to provide the services requested. Providers also maintains a record of contacts for customer or technical support.

Providers may also collect information about how users access the website through log files and the use of cookies, and through third party services such as Mouseflow and Google Analytics. Such information may include standard information from your web browser (such as browser type and language), your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, and the actions you take on IONOS’s Web sites (such as the web pages viewed and the links clicked). Comments

When visitors leave comments on any of our content and applications we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.  This information is only used within the scope of our content and applications and is not shared with third parties.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

All information entered in comment blocks is considered public and may be searched by search engines and viewed by public users.  The Providers reserve the right to block, filter or edit any content posted, entered or uploaded as comments.  All comments become property of providers and may be used in marketing materials and other channels.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.  You represent that you have the rights to any images uploaded.  You are responsible to notify us immediately if you become aware you do not have the rights to any images.  We reserve the right to remove  any images for any reason.

Contact forms

We use contact forms for customer service, member applications, subscriptions and newsletters.  By filling out the contact form you agree that we may contact you in accordance with the EULA for the application or to provide you with the service and or information requested.

By filling out a contact form or selecting the option for notifications, you give us permission to contact you as specified by your choices.  Those may include phone, text, email, push notifications or physical mail or parcel shipping as applicable.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

What are Cookies?

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

IONOS may use and share your personal information in order to provide the services requested. For example, your information may be provided to the domain registrar in order to process domain registrations, or with the relevant certificate authority to order an SSL certificate on your behalf. We will also share your information to the extent necessary to comply with ICANN’s rules, regulations, and policies, and if your domains are not set to private registration, the publicly available WHOIS registry will contain personal information, including but not limited to your title, first name, surname, domain name, e-mail address, country, and phone number.

Providers are required to supply some of your personal data in order to request user verification from the App Store, Play Store and Anti Spam services. By submitting a request for access to Content and Applications or renewal of subscriptions, you consent to Providers releasing all required personal information to the necessary associated parties in order to fulfill the request and you acknowledge and understand that Providers act only as an intermediary between the customer and the billing service provider and application hosts.

Providers may also use the personally identifiable information collected by Providers to contact customers regarding products and services offered by Providers and, to the extent the user has agreed to it, by its trusted affiliates, independent contractors and business partners. We may also use this information and share it with trusted third parties for research purposes regarding the effectiveness of our website services, marketing, advertising and sales efforts, including, without limitation, for purposes of customer reviews (such as for the utilization of programs like Google Seller Ratings). Providers will not sell or otherwise share this information with a third party for a third party\x92s marketing purposes, unless you specifically authorize such information sharing.

Providers may also disclose aggregate, anonymous data based on information collected from users to investors and potential partners. In such cases, only statistical information will be disclosed and personally identifiable data will be kept strictly confidential. In case IONOS is sold, the information collected from users may be transferred to the new owners.

Providers may from time to time engage third parties, including its own subsidiaries and affiliated companies, to preserve, analyze or otherwise store or manipulate data received by Providers from its customers. In all such cases, third party service providers will be required to treat all such data with the same degree of care as Providers and they will be prohibited from disclosing such data to any other person or party, except as otherwise provided for in this Privacy Policy.

Providers uses payment account information solely to check the financial qualifications of prospective Customers and to collect payment for the services provided by Providers.

Google Analytics

We use “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of this Site, such as how often users visit the Site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this Site.  Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this Site, rather than your name or other identifying information.

Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this Site.  This cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google, Inc.  The information generated by the cookie will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.

We use the information received from Google Analytics only to improve services on this Site.  We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information.
