Are you Tweeting?  Are you Tweeting Right?  Twitter is a phenomenon that I would have never predicted.  A service that just delivers headlines non-stop and you pick the source.

Like anything in life, tweeting with a purpose is better than just tweeting nothingness. Your followers won’t share much nothingness.  If you are the Chinese-Asian-Mexican fusion food expert, and share great locations, recipes and tips, then you might get a few loyal followers.

There are two extremes to tweeting, one is just to feel self important and share your life.  The other is to just reach out and market to people.  There is a balance, and in that balance is where you learn what your customers want from you, and a conversation begins.  A good conversation creates a connection, even if you never meet the other person.

Twitter is a headline service.  You have to get someones attention in 140 characters or less.  If you have more to say, you add a link to your Facebook page or your blog.

The best method I have seen is to use Twitter as a headline grabber, Facebook for short stories of a paragraph or so in length and your blog for the big stories.  Occasionally for the really fun stuff where you want to involve everyone, you might try a headline on Twitter, a teaser paragraph on Facebook and the story on your blog.

So how exactly do you do that?

Step one is to write the whole story on your blog page.  If you really want to step up your SEO game, the Excerpt you publish on your blog is what you use for your teaser paragraph on your Facebook page.  My Facebook page auto tweets the headline and link for me.  It is a simple and effective way to tell a story and get a conversation going.

How will you tell your story?
